Resources for healthcare users

“Patients with long term medical conditions become the experts on living with those conditions, even if they aren’t necessarily the experts on the science of their treatment. They are also repeated users of the health care system and are an incredibly under-used resource in how that system actually works for, or sometimes against, them.”
Forbes B.A.
BMJ 28 March 2003

What is the Cochrane Consumer Network (CCNet)?

The CCNet is available to support consumers (i.e. healthcare users) by providing them with communication, training and guidance opportunities that are set out to gain their perspective to Cochrane reviews as well as to other activities within the Cochrane Collaboration. It is made up of people who pursue the philosophies of the collaboration and value the importance of consumer participation in informed healthcare decision making. It is important therefore that Cochrane consumers are widely representative, coming from many countries around the world and living in different circumstances.
